• New Windows Product Category will appear in WSUS

    Hi Folks:

There will be a new product category added to your WSUS server over the next day or two, under the Windows family. The new category will be titled “Windows Ultimate Extras.”  Windows Ultimate Extras are programs, services, and premium content for Windows Vista™Ultimate.

The Windows Ultimate Extras category will contain all Extras for Windows Ultimate as they are released throughout the Windows Vista timeframe.  Ultimate Extras will be offered through WSUS, for clients running Windows Vista Ultimate edition.

    Thanks,

    -Bobbie

  • Exchange 2003 SP2 (KB 924334) update for S/MIME has been released

Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 has a new update going out to Microsoft Update and to downlevel WSUS servers. I think it is important to note that client action outlined below must happen to get the new SMIME control to the client's machine. There will be another update coming out soon (no specific date) that will address the client experience issue by alerting the user that the current SMIME control installed on the client is outdated.

  • October security updates available to WSUS servers

The earlier network issues experienced on the Microsoft Update platform,
which delayed the October security updates released today, have been
addressed.   The October security updates have be
    en been replicating as of
    approx. 3:00pm today PST.

If you had a scheduled WSUS synchronization earlier today, which  did not
contain October security update metadata, you can kick off a manual
synchronization or wait until your next scheduled synchronization time to
    recieve these updates.

To reiterate messaging on the MSRC blog (http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/archive/2006/10.aspx)  this delay was due to networking for these systems: there are no issues with the October security updates themselves.  Also, this issue doesn't affect customers using Software Update
Services (SUS), Windows Update v4 or Office Update.

    -thanks,

    Bobbie

  • New SQL Product Category

    Hi WSUS Admins,

Over the next couple of days, a new product category will be added to your Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server under the Microsoft SQL Server family.  (The SQL Server family was previously called just "SQL.") SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000 products will be under the SQL Server family of products.

The new category will be named "SQL Server Feature Pack."The SQL Server Feature Pack category will offer updates that are SQL Server components, but did not ship on SQL Server 2005 media. See http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df0ba5aa-b4bd-4705-aa0a-b477ba72a9cb&DisplayLang=en for other packages that are included in the Feature Pack for SQL Server 2005 SP1.
