  • Top Contributor Awards, celebrating more heroes of the Wiki community (plus BizTalk, TFS, AD RMS)

Welcome back for another analysis of weekly contributions to TechNet Wiki over the last week (Fri-Sat)

My wiki crawler was broken last week, due to them damn gremlins, but I have found the time to fix it and toughen it up for future crawls.

And it looks like the same is affecting the scoreboards when I took this screen shot...

Instead, sit back and take in another collection of award winning contributions from our beloved wiki'ers!

    Most Revisions Award
Who has made the most individual revisions

Sandro Pereira comes first this week, with 117 revisions over 81 articles.

Peter Geelen - MSFT is second, with 73 revisions over 40 articles.

Fernando Lugão Veltem comes third, with 55 revisions over 24 articles.

    Most Articles Updated Award
Who has updated the most articles

This week, the articles list is the same as revisions, which is actually quite rare.

Sandro Pereira is first , with 81 articles.

Peter Geelen - MSFT is second, with 40 articles.

Fernando Lugão Veltem comes third, with 24 articles.

    Most Updated Article Award
Largest amount of updated content in a single article

The article most updated this week is How Changes to Public Certification Authority Standards Will Affect You by Serhad MAKBULOĞLU

This is a copy of this TechNet blog, which was a nice article, but I'm not sure what value copying it into the Wiki gives...

    Longest Article Award
    Biggest article updated this week

The largest article to receive some attention this week is Developing Integration Solutions Using BizTalk Server 2009 and Team Foundation Server, originally by Trace Young and updated by Sandro Pereira.

This is another copy-in article, but a very worthy read, for those that are interested in BizTalk Server.

    Most Revised Article Award
Article with the most revisions in a week

The article to receive the most revisions this week is AD RMS - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), originally by Kurt L Hudson MSFT, and also updated by Bruce Perler - Microsoft, who has been tidying and adding to it.

This is an awesome collection of tips and answers for Active Directory Rights Management Service. A popular article with much awesomeness.

Gotta love ya folks! Thank you very much for an awesome week of input!

    Best regards,
    Pete Laker

  • BizTalk Server 2013 is here!

I will be not the first nor last one that will blog, tweet or share through other social media that BizTalk Server 2013 is RTM. The 8th release in little over twelve years. That is amazing as I do not believe any Server Product has such a release cadence. Impressive as the Microsoft BizTalk Server Product keeps pushing out new features in the product.

There was talk, rumors or bold statements that this product was near its end. Some even pronounced or claimed it was dead. However the product is still alive as Microsoft will keep innovating the on-premise version. Besides on-premise you can run BizTalk in a VM i.e. IaaS solution for development/testing purposes. That is not all as BizTalk Services will follow in the Windows Azure Platform. This will be an enhancement of the previous EAI/EDI labs.

The product group made the following areas:

    • Improved Performance
    • Simplified Development and Management Experience
    • Cloud Connectivity
    • Running BizTalk Server in the cloud (IaaS)
    • Support for the latest platform and standards

Alignment with the platform & standards is usually done with each new version. Interesting more is simplified experience with dependency viewer in the BizTalk Administration Console, the SFTP adapter, performance gains with MLLP adapter, XslCompiledTransform in Maps, the connectivity to the cloud through WCF-BasicHttpRelay, WCF-NetTcpRelaty,  and SB-Messaging. Even more important or interesting is the REST Support through the WCF-WebHttp. This adapter will provide the ability to consume or expose RESTful Endpoints. Finally BizTalk can be run in a VM in Windows Azure.

With this new version you can run your on-premise integration solutions even better, and it will easier to build hybrid solutions that span on-premises and the cloud. I expect that the new on-premise release will follow in two years as we are accustomed to. In the end I believe the product will merge to one service that can be deployed on-premise or leveraged in Windows Azure.

Watch out for upcoming BizTalk articles in the BizTalk Server Resources on the TechNet Wiki. The following articles are currently present:

  • Community Win: Wiki Ninja Belts

Hello and welcome everybody to our Thursday - Community Win.

In the past we have talked a lot with wiki ninjas about what it is like to be a wiki ninja, what real ninjas are and what that has to do with the wiki. Before I start the real post let me give you an overview what other wiki ninjas think about the "ninja style":

... and many more, more, more articles. I have thought about to mention every article in this post, but I think I better write a book about it ;-)

But what makes a ninja a ninja? Of course a black suit, but if that were the only symbol of recognition the Men in Black are also ninjas. I do not want to say they aren't, but let me come back to my original question: What makes a ninja a ninja? Another good answer could be "He/she has a ninja stick figure like this or that one". Ok, now we are close to my point. I will give you the answer. It is the mystical belt which makes a ninja a ninja. But here's the problem: How do you distinguish between a novice and a real master, a non-invisible wiki ninja? To help you to answer that question the Grand Master himself gives you an overview about the wiki ninja belt rankings. With that secret weapon in your pocket you're closer to become a real ninja.

Back to "reality": That's one point to recognize a ninja. What do you think? What makes a ninja a ninja?
