• New Windows 7 Learning Snacks (short videos) now available

    Just a heads up about the recent posting of more new Learning Snacks for Windows 7. Learning Snacks are short, interactive presentations delivered via Silverlight. Here are the new Windows 7 “snacks” for IT professionals:

  • Download IIS Media Services 2.0 - 64-bit for IIS 7.0

    IIS Media Services is a set of media-related extensions for Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 that provides an integrated HTTP-based media delivery platform. IIS Media Services 2.0 contains three extensions:

    • Smooth Streaming – on-demand adaptive streaming to Silverlight
    • Bit Rate Throttling – meters the speed that media is delivered to a player
    • Web Playlists – secure sequencing of media content

    You can also download two additional beta IIS Media Services extensions from the Microsoft Web Platform Installer (Web PI) by selecting IIS Media Services 3.0 - Beta. The two additional beta extensions available are:

    • Live Smooth Streaming – live adaptive streaming for Silverlight
    • Advanced Logging – rich, real-time client- and server-side logging

  • Upgrade SQL Server 2008 with Service Pack 1

    The SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 is now available. Primarily a roll-up of Cumulative Update 1 to 3, Quick Fix Engineering (QFE) updates, and fixes to issues reported through the SQL Server community, SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 also includes capabilities for easier deployment and management of service packs, including:

     

    • Slipstream – You are now able to integrate the base installation with service packs (or Hotfixes) and install in a single step.
    • Service Pack Uninstall – You are now able to uninstall only the Service Pack (without removing the whole instance)
    • Report Builder 2.0 Click Once capability

    Microsoft has teamed with Monster.com to provide job seekers with access to Microsoft Office Online and the Office Online Career Center, a new all-in-one portal. Through the portal, users can find new opportunities from Monster’s job posting and career management tools and advice and also create résumés by choosing from hundreds of Microsoft Office Online résumé templates.
