System Center Data Protection Manager 2007的授权方式是以服务器端授权加管理终端授权形式存在,DPM2007服务器端的授权称为：DPM2007 Server License，而DPM2007的终端授权不是我们通常所叫的CAL(客户端访问许可),它叫做DPML(Data Protection Management License,数据保护管理许可).而在DPM2007 RTM时,DPM2007的DPML分为两种: Enterprise DPML和Standard DPML ，这两种License均针对Server端OS。两者的主要区别是，Standard DPML主要针对Windows Server OS级别的数据保护与备份，而Enterprise DPML则针对于除Windows Server以外的其他Server端应用的备份，如：Exchange Server、Sharepoint Server和SQL Server等。

当2008年12月19日发布System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1时，DPM2007 的License发生了改变，增加了Client DPML。而Client DPML则旨在针对客户端操作系统，如：WIndows XP、Windows Vista等进行操作系统状态信息的保护与备份工作。该授权方式的变更将于2009年2月份在报价单上更新并使用。
