You might want to check out the "We Got Served" page which lists a number of add-ins for WHS. One of them is an add-in to manage media from Media Center PC's on WHS (http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/2007/09/24/add-in-recorded-tv-manager-for-windows-home-server-beta/).
I think Microsoft is basically releasing the base and letting developers do the rest in creating add-ins. I finally got a copy of WHS after trying for weeks -- it's selling like hotcakes. The buzz around it is one of the largest I have seen in a long time and I think Microsoft delivered a clear winner this time.

Thanks Robert, that looks like a pretty cool addin (and site). It goes part way there, but I wonder - why would I want a MCE in my lounge (or anywhere else) if I could have a WHS somewhere else, being the recording server, and have an externder or XBox 360 in the lounge instead?
I think WHS is great, don't get me wrong - I'm just musing on how it might improve in the future...
