I had the same problem. Lenovo Idepad Z580.

Finally it works.

"browse my computer for driver software, then"let me pick from a list of...." , uncheck the "show compatible hardware" checkbox and finally select the the followings:

Manufacturer: Broadcom (not Broadcom corporation)

Network adapter: Broadcom 802.11n nework adapter (Microsoft)

Then click to install.

Exact same thing happens to me, what a piece of junk windows 8.1 Apple should come out with an ad showing that although the ipads do no have a USB connection at least the Wi-Fi works.

Only way I can get it to work is following these steps: to shut off my computer, turn on the wireless, turn on your computer. If I turn the computer on before the wireless router is turned on then it does not work.

After LIMITED on WIFI on my gateway laptop after an upgrade to 8.1 I tried all the options above to no avail until I loaded the broadcom driver in place of the microsoft driver that was loaded by the 8.1 upgrade  Viola it all works now

I keep getting "Limited" on my iMac(late 2013) Broadcom driver. I did the ipconfig/flushdns, renew to no avail. Any suggestions?

Installed the 8.1 update:  the wired internet was working--the wireless was NOT.   SOLUTION FOR ME---->Went to Device Manager-->Network Adaptors-->Found my "wireless Network Adaptor (in my case an Atheros)-->disabled it-->and it went away in "Networks" on my laptop-->then I "enabled" it-->and viola, all my available wireless connections are now listed

I don't think it's the Broadcom driver as it can see the wireless networks and connect up. I'm thinking it's a Windows 8.1 issue why I keep getting "Limited".

I finally fixed my problem. I'm with Acer laptop so I go to Acer support web site and download LAN drivers after that I installed it and after reboot everything is back in normal. I hope this will help someone else. :)

For me to get it to work I had to remove the openDNS settings on my router, and then use the google dns settings on my network device

I installed the latest version of my wifi card drivers & it all started working again. Easy because I could connect to an ethernet line to do it, if you can't do that...

I've updated to the 8.1 and have problem with "limited" connection. My laptop can connect to any other wifi networks except mine

Hooray - Kyle's solution worked for me. I have a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter but I switched to broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter version v6.30.223.102 and that worked first time.
