    CAUSE:

    There is a problem in MOM. Occasionally it reads more parameters than needed which causes the service to crash.

    Solution
    =======

    Apply hotfix 930770

  • 無法掛載磁碟機到另外一個磁碟

    PROBLEMS

    ==========

    DISK H cannot be mounted to DISK F

    REASON

    =======

    The system account was lost in disk H.

    ANALYSIS

    =========

    -     From the result of chkntfs, we find the disk F is not dirty. The disk can be accessed normally.

    -     From the result of process monitor, we find VDS.exe report the one device IO control failed on the H drive. But we did not find any information related to disk F.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          47   7:57:13.4497193 AM    vds.exe  384  IRP_MJ_DEVICE_CONTROL   H:   UNSUCCESSFUL     Control: 0x560010 (Device:0x56 Function:4 Method: 0)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -     We find disk F does not have the SYSTEM account. The disk information in disk management is all under SYSTEM account. If we did not have this account, we cannot receive any information about this disk. So even we can access this disk, we cannot see the value of "file system" and cannot find this disk when we try to mount to this disk.

    ACTIONS

    =======

    Manually add SYSTEM account to disk F

  • DPM 2007 on Win 2008 Can not connect to SQL Server Reporting Service

    Problem
    ========
    DPM 2007 on Win 2008 Can not connect to SQL Server Reporting Service

    RESULT:
    =========

    DPM could not connect to SQL Server Reporting Services server because of IIS connectivity issues.
    On the computer on which the DPM database was created, restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service. On the Administrative Tools menu, select Services. Right-click World Wide Web Publishing Service, and then click Start.
    ID: 3013
    因為 IIS 的連線問題,所以 DPM 無法連線到 SQL Server Reporting Services 伺服器。

    在建立 DPM 資料庫的電腦上,重新啟動 World Wide Web Publishing 服務。在 [系統管理工具] 功能表上選取 [服務]。在 [World Wide Web Publishing Service] 上按一下滑鼠右鍵,然後按一下 [啟動]。

    Solution
    ==========

    1. Click Start, type Inetmgr in the Start Search box, right-click Inetmgr in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
    2. In IIS Manager, locate the level that you want to manage. (Select ReportServer$MS$DPM2007$)
    3. In Features view, double-click Handler Mappings. (this will be listed in the middle pane under IIS)
    4. In the Action pane, click Edit Handler Permissions. (this actually shows as "Edit Feature Permissions")
    5. click to select Script, and then click OK, click to select Execute, and then click OK.

  • MOM2005 , MOM service unexpectedly stopped issue

    SYMPTOMS
    ========
    The Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 service does not start on a MOM Management Server even though you have made no changes to the Management Server.
    Additionally, an error message that is similar to the following is logged in the MOMService.mc8 log file on the Management Server:

    Err:Failed to open queue D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\Config Group Name\ServerQueue.pqf: OpenFailed

    Note The MOMService.mc8 log file is located in the %windir%\Temp\Microsoft Operations Manager folder.

    CAUSE
    ======
    This problem occurs because the files in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\Configuration Group Name folder are corrupted.

    RESOLUTION
    =============
    To resolve this problem, clear all the files in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\Configuration Group Name folder by using the MOM Information Utility (MOMInfo.exe). This utility is included in the MOM 2005 Resource Kit. For example, type mominfo.exe /clearqueue to clear all files.
    Note If the MOM service still does not start after you use this utility, move the files in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\Configuration Group Name folder to a temporary folder, and then start the MOM service.
