Proposal: Namespace Operator Pronounciation - :: = "blup blup"

So - does the Namespace operator have a specific phonetic pronounciation? Something onomatopeic? “Colon colon” suffers from having too many syllables.

If there's no generally accepted practice, I submit that whenever “::” needs to be vocalized, it should be pronounced “blup blup”, (and correspondingly, that the colon be pronounced “blup”). Enunciation is frowned upon, so the two sounds should run together.

(Yes, I'm one of those people who uses “Bang” for an exclamation mark (depending on context), “Wack” for a backslash (and sometimes the forwardslash), and pronounces M$ “Em ta-ching.”)

When speaking to friends they have gotten used to me referring to "::" as "SquareDot". On almost all browsers and editors the "::" comes out as a perfect square of four dots...just fell into place for me.

While I use "Slash" (/) and "Backslash" (\), I do use "Bang" (!) as well...

Em ta-ching... I may have to start using that one...

I like Squaredot, but one of the other cool things about blupping (it's my word, I made it) is that it scales from : to :::: ! Check out the title of http://blogs.msdn.com/Acoat/ 's blog, which you'd have to call an oblong dot :)

Haha, very true. In a programming sense I have never had an issue. However when outside of the programming area (or in certain circumstances) blup is better in that it is one syllable. Heck of a lot better than saying colon colon colon colon...

blupping is definitely more fun..I will concede.
