Handy Tip - New Web Query in Excel
A colleague passed on this tip - very handy. I came across a web page that showed a list of folks that were involved in a particular project. Hey, I thought, I need to invite all those folks to get involved in my project. Hrmm, how am I gonna get all their names and e-mail adresses and such over into my project files?
Excel>New Web Query
If you open Excel, click on a cell in a spreadsheet, then from the toolbar select Data > Import External Data > New Web Query, you can then put a url in the address line. The page that loads will have yellow arrows on it indicating items in tables that you can import into excel as data. Select the yelolow arrow(s) you want, then select Import. The info will load into excel spreadsheet as it is presented on the page.
Handy. You can then run any kind of analysis you want, or, as in my case, export the sheet as and SPS list so we can invite the folkds onboard and then manage their participation in the project (document reviews).
