TBot, the translator robot

TBot2 Have you ever heard about TBot, Windows Live Messenger translator robot? TBot can translate your instant messages into several languages. Would you like to give it a try? Then, add TBot (mtbot@hotmail.com) to your contact list in Windows Live Messenger!

TBot

Once you have added TBot to your contact list, the robot can start translating IM messages for you. Click TBot in your contact list, type tbot? and check what your polyglot buddy can do for you.

Select the source and target languages, then invite TBot to participate in an IM conversation, and your friend is ready to start working for you! You can also change the language pair at any time. TBot performs translations for the following languages:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese - Simplified
  • Chinese - Traditional
  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Spanish

It is important to keep in my mind that TBot is a robot, i.e, translations are powered by  Microsoft machine translation system, called Microsoft Translator. Even if the translations are not always perfect, TBot is a useful resource in our globalized world.

For more information about your new translator buddy, visit TBot team blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/translation/. In this blog, you can also send feedback on TBot's translation work to TBot developers.
