One thing we've heard a lot about recently is the fact that webcast promotions are only open to residents of the U.S. and Canada. Since I primarily post with contest winners, I wanted to quickly explain why this is the case. If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you probably saw Dean's post back in October on this topic.
It all boils down to the varied tax and import/export laws of each country. Every country has different rules, regulations and tax requirements when it comes to someone sending or receiving a prize. Our laws in the U.S. are very different from those in Japan, Germany or the U.K.
While we do like to offer up prizes to add an element of fun to TechNet webcasts, our real charter and reason for being is to get you the best, most relevant technical content possible and deliver it in a timely manner. We hope you find value in the content even if you are not eligible to win prizes that may be associated with our webcasts.
