It's a pleasure to announce that the System Center Virtual Manager TechCenter has launched today, in coordination with the RTM announcement of the product.  You can view the site at: http://technet.microsoft.com/scvmm/default.aspx.

You can join the Virtual Machine Manager community via the forum.  Go to the TechCenter and choose the "Community" tab.  The link is there, which will guide you to the forum.  The VHD and trial software will be available soon.  Visit the site often to check on the VHD and trial software availability.

We're pleased to announce the launch of the Manageability TechCenter (http://technet.microsoft.com/manageability/default.aspx) on Microsoft TechNet.  Here, you will find task-based and best-practices guidance on how to effectively manage an IT environment using System Center family of management products and Windows Server management technologies.  The top level tasks include: Getting Started, Configuration Management, Service Monitoring and Control, Storage Management, Consolidation and Virtualization, and Troubleshooting.  Check it out and we'd like to hear from you.

The System Center Configuration Manager TechCenter has launched today as the product is in the Release Candidate (RC) stage.  You can download and try the RC software (on Microsoft Connect), read the preliminary version of the online documentation, try the virtual lab, and view the webcasts.

When the product releases to manufacturing, there will be availability to the trial software and a TechNet Forum (for Community involvement).

Microsoft Certificate Lifecycle Manager (CLM) Beta 2, a policy- and workflow-driven solution that helps organizations manage the lifecycle of digital certificates and smart cards, is now housed on TechNet with a new Web design (compared to Beta 1).  Take a look at the Web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/clm/default.mspx, and download Beta 2.

 

System Center Data Protection Manager 2006 Service Pack 1 (SP1) has released.  SP1 broadens the protection capabilities with support for protecting file server clusters, support for SIS (single-instance storage) enabled servers and support for X64 Windows servers.

We're pleased to announce the availability of Data Protection Manager (DPM) version 2.0 Beta 1 and DPM's new location on the microsoft.com web site.  More information can be found on the web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/dpm/default.mspx.

The Systems Management Server 2003 OSD Feature Pack Update is now available (English version only at the moment).  Other language versions will soon follow, along with the ICP.  This update adds support for SMS to create and deploy images of Windows OS-es, including Windows Vista (integrates with USMT 3.0 Beta, which is available through Microsoft Connect).

The updated SMS 2003 Device Management Feature Pack (DMFP) is now available at: http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/downloads/2003/dmfp.mspx.  The feature pack now allows SMS 2003 to manage mobile devices running Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition 5.0.

The updated DMFP ICP, release note, and guidance document will be available within the next two weeks.  Check back soon.
