Day 2 of Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2005 started out with a keynote address by Kirill Tatarinov, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Enterprise Management Division.  He went over the success of MOM and SMS, and was excited to see how DSI is evolving to a concrete family of management products through System Center and Visual Studio 2005.

Kirill also introduced Microsoft System Center Capacity Manager 2006, the project formerly known as "Indy."  Sabrena McBride had the honor of demo-ing the new product.  Here's an excerpt of what she said: "One other thing that I just want to quickly show you, in addition to the topology mapping, we do give you all of the information with regards to your existing model that comes from your live environment. We're actually going to go and edit that model to add a Boston office and the additional 1,000 users that are in that branch office.  So to do that we'll first add the Boston office to our model and this just shows you how easy it is to change your model. You don't have to be a model expert to do this." It's a fantastic product -- my Two Thumbs Way Up!  Read some of the reactions of System Center Capacity Manager on Jonathan Hardwick's web blog.

Lastly, Kirill summarized the three "Waves" of the Management Roadmap.  For more information, read the transcript of Kirill's keynote address.

After the keynote address, everyone eagerly headed to their breakout sessions and hands-on labs.  And, at the end of the day, that adrenaline needs to be suppressed; and what better way to do it than going to Aureole and sampling a few of their huge array of wine collection.
