Permissions, Delegates, Migration
Brett....
Following on from the first day we had a few discussions around delegates and permissions.... The following should help immensely - Please note though that there is a ADMT Version 3 which you may also want to review.
As requested it is important to look at which users are delegates of who in the 5.5 world. This will ultimately enable a smooth migration to Ex200x without users “loosing” permissions \ delegate rights to other people’s mailboxes.
There are few ways of looking at who has perms \ delegates over other peoples mailboxes in 5.5 you can use:
- The latest version of PFDAVAdmin – An export all MBX permissions to CSV you can then
- MBINFO
It is important to look at this as part of the planning process so you don’t run into issues when you start migrating \ moving mailboxes to the target exchange server. This is best described through an example, the following table helps illustrates the problem that you could encounter – In this example Fred has 30 people who have delegate access to his mailbox – The ADMTv2 and ExMig process describe when the users are migrated \ moved either together in one hit or in stages.
