BPOS Price drops

As more Microsoft Partners are offering Business Productivity Online Services to their customers, the cloud-based Exchange, Sharepoint, Office Communicator and Live Meeting Services have been scaling up in Microsoft datacentres around the world.

These economies of scale have allowed Microsoft to drop the customer price by a massive 40% – so that the BPOS suite is now available to a user at £6.71 per user per month.

BPOS is now truly global: available to purchase in 36 countries (and available to use wherever there is an Internet connection). In an annoucenment earlier this week, the size of an Exchange Online mailbox has also been increased to a whopping 25GB. As the BPOS service improvements are delivered quarterly, BPOS is becoming a compelling offer for small and large enterprises alike.

UK Partner Licensing Roadshow – Edinburgh 18th November

Following on previous Partner licensing workshops, the Scotland Partner team have secured another Licensing Roadshow to visit Edinburgh next month.

With the recent release of new products from Microsoft such as Windows 7 and the ever increasing interest in the world of Virtualisation from customers and the associated licensing implications this event is great way for Partners to get a valuable update on the various licensing programs.

The roadshow is open to all partners and is suitable for all licensing and sales roles. The presentations cover both licensing and technology and are level 300, so relatively in-depth.

Saving Cash with Conferencing –Partner webinars

Some find telephone conference calls a bit awkward – but in these straightened times few can argue that they are a communications tool ideally suited to recession.

Conf calls tend to be shorter than face to face meetings, and hence more efficient. They are more convenient as we just have to pick up a phone rather than travelling by plane, train, or automobile. For international and distributed business scenarios, they are the main tool for reaching decisions and consensus.

Several partners in the past few weeks have asked me about hands-on training courses for OCS 2007 R2 – well I can confirm that the online training materials, including hands on labs, are now available on the partner portal. Fill yer boots.

This course provides an introduction to Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 R2, including how you can use OCS 2007 R2 for real-time interactions between users, and how you can unite OCS 2007 R2 with Microsoft Exchange Server as part of Microsoft Unified Communications. From instant messaging and presence to unified conferencing and enterprise voice, the course walks you through a variety of features and enhancements found in OCS 2007 R2 and demonstrates how to use these enhancements to help provide a more comprehensive communication solution.

Labcast duration: This labcast consist of 15 video recordings and 9 labs. Each video is approximately 26 minutes long, and each lab takes approximately 1 hour. You have the option to view all or some of the recordings, as well as taking all or some of the labs.

Virtualisation & Management Workshop – Edinburgh – 29th Sept

One of the hot topics that customers are seeking Partner assistance on is virtualisation. The Microsoft Partner team recognise that we have a number of Partners who have well established virtualisation capabilities, however there are also a lot of Partners who would like to develop capabilities within in this area and understand what the business opportunites

The Virtualisation & Management Workshop workshop later this month, is targeted at Partners who currently have no virtualisation practice but who are interested in building one. Attendees should be the Business Decision Makers (those able to make the decisions on where their business is going over the next 12 months) and we have capacity for max 14 people.

The workshop will be held at the Microsoft Edinburgh Office, Waverley Gate, 2-4 Waterloo Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3EG, on Tuesday 29th September 2009. We would like to ask you to be there from 9.45am for a 10am start and it will run until 5pm.

The Partner Readiness team have arranged for a 4 day hands-on workshop which provides Partners with the necessary knowledge to plan, implement and manage Windows Small Business Server 2008. Attendees will gain first-hand knowledge on topics such as installing, migrating, monitoring, securing and backing up data.

This course is intended for technology consultants, system integrators, and in-house technology staff that serve small and medium- sized businesses.

The subsidised costs for this training is £200 per delegate – which works out at £50 a day which is a bargain!

asking when is the product going to RTM ( Release to Manufacture).

At present we cannot announce this date, however it is very close. Below is a copy of the latest Windows
