I'm not sure what exposure you've had to some of the MMO forums, but after reading both the original comment and some of the follow-on articles, I smell what we affectionately know as a "troll".

Personally, I believe the author is having quite a good chuckle to themselves about now (though I'm not denying the possibility they're genuinely that misguided).

Update: I just noticed this fellow posted twice - you should read his second response. This post, more than the first, convinces me they're trolling. It's too well crafted to incite rebuttals from a defined target audience.
