Get Ready for Windows “Cloud”
There has been a lot of buzz in the blogosphere around some of Ballmer’s statements while on his ‘good will’ tour of the UK. Ballmer’s mentioning of Microsoft’s “cloud” services soon to be announced at PDC has put all web companies on alert. Amazon decided execute a pre-emptive strike with the announcement of Windows on EC2. I say pre-emptive jokingly because in fact, Amazon is not doing this to compete with Microsoft, but rather give their customers what they’ve wanted for a long time, Window Server. At the end of the day, Microsoft doesn’t care who hosts Windows, as long as licenses get sold and deployed and that people are happy.
