In Q1 we did a number of events in the Central Region of the US on the topic of Azure. Budgets being what they are these days, we can’t go everywhere but fear not, we recorded the sessions from the Nashville, TN event. Here are the links to those recordings. You can watch the streaming version or download for offline viewing. Since we also delivered a develop focused version in the afternoon of the event, I also included the link below to the MSDN session. TechNet Events Presents:

With Storage Manager for SANs, you can create and manage logical unit numbers (LUNs) on Fibre Channel and iSCSI disk drive subsystems that support Virtual Disk Service (VDS) in your storage area network (SAN). This guide provides server and storage subsystem requirements, an introduction to managing LUNs, and step-by-step walkthroughs for creating and assigning LUNs using Storage Manager for SANs in Windows Server 2008.

Hyper-V, Virtual Server 2005

I’ve been listening to our customers a lot lately. I get a lot of good feedback here, but it’s no substitute for the direct frank conversations we’ve had at the live events, launch events and conferences like MMS or TechEd. One of the complaints I’ve been hearing more and more is centered around our content. The crux of the complaint is that we aren’t real world in the demos we do on webcasts, screencasts, live events, hands on labs, etc. As much as I’d like a raised floor data center

The RC1 wave has begun. First up at bat is Windows Server 2008. If you've been following my screencasts or other blog posts on the subject, you know it's going to be a strong server product. But what about the desktop products? Well, after you head on over to grab Windows Server 2008 RC1 , keep those downloaders all warmed up because Windows Vista SP1 RC1 and Windows XP SP3 RC1 code are on the way. Lot's of stuff to test. As soon as their links go live, I'll post another

As you can see at http://edge.technet.com , we are launching a new online portal for IT Pros. Expect to see lots of content in the form of podcasts, screencasts and videos. I have some interesting stuff coming. My EDGE id is KingCobra. Head on over and register if you want a cool name, before all of the cool names are taken. I used my Live ID for the registration process and recommend you do the same. The official launch is next week so be patient while some of the features are enabled this weekend.

The Windows Server 2008 Server Manager is a portal of sorts to the installation, configuration, management and monitoring of the roles and features. Your initial view of those roles and features will be rather empty because of course, you need to install the ones that are germane to your particular server. Initial Server Manager Stuff This screencast starts to get into the meat of WS 2008. In Beta 3, there are seventeen roles that are available in the GUI version of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.

Everyone is familiar with the fictitious element of the planet Krypton. Strangely, this element is poisonous to a native of the planet. But what about Viridian? What is it? Is it powerful? First of all, Viridian isn't a fictitious element. It is in fact a color or city in Pokemon . I find that amusing. Pokemon freaks in the Windows Server product group... who would have guessed. <grin> Viridian is also the project name for the Windows Server hypervisor technologies now on display. Display?

FYI, there was a rather serious storm last night in the Pacific Northwest area of the US. As a result, many people are without power and that is having an impact on a variety of services. As I understand it, we won't be delivering the 10 webcasts that were scheduled for today. A lack of power has impacted people, process and technology in this case. Sorry for the inconvenience but I'm sure you understand. As you can see, the server that hosts my blog pictures is down. I'm actually surprised blogs.technet.com

Make sure you take some time looking at Kai Axford's recent blog post . As Kai reminds us, there are some new rules that went into effect on December 1st, 2006 that impact when and how email may be deleted. Kai links to some other articles on the subject. Check it out.

So I missed the date by a few hours, but you can help us bring the internet to it’s knees by downloading Windows Vista Beta 2 today!!! Ok, depending on your connection, maybe not today but hopefully shortly there after. After the download is complete burn the .iso image to DVD and you’ll have a shiny new operating system to test. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx and decide if you want to order the DVD kit or download the bits right now. As you can see,

Today was a blast!!! Webcasts are fun, nerve racking, exciting, tense, glorious, chilling… notice the see saw? My job is to make sure the webcast is smooth as Aero Glass so that any issues don’t distract you from the information I’m discussing. This webcast could have easily been four hours. There is soo much information related to Windows Vista Security, there’s no way to get much coverage in 60 minutes. So thanks for your time today and I promise some killer screencasts

Microsoft has made some recent bets on storage management. That is good news for me for a variety of reasons. First, it offers a glimpse of my HDTV future. What? Yes, you read that correctly. I’ll get to the explanation in a little bit. Second, it means our customers will have a broader range of storage support in Microsoft products. One of the recent acquisitions we made was from String Bean Software. We acquired their WinTarget iSCSI Target software. I don’t know all of the details
