  • Angelbeat event wrap up for Portland….

(Actually…..we are really in Tigard, OR) Another great Angelbeat event today!  The event is still going on and I have already delivered my presentation. I am now listening to a Juniper Networks presenter talk about network infrastructure and simplifying network topology and physical layouts. Again I saw a few familiar faces from previous Technet events I have delivered in the area. I also fielded some great question on DirectAccess, BitLocker, Sharepoint, and exchange 2010 during some networking.

  • Angelbeat Event wrap up for Redmond….

Earlier today I did an Angelbeat IT Event in Building 33 on the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, Wa. There was a great turn out with ~70 people in attendance. Lots of vendors showed up including Cisco, Intel, Right Systems, Incentra, and others. These are great events for IT staff to hear directly from the companies about new technologies and even current stuff they just might not be aware of. I saw few familiar faces from the WNUG User Group I host with Zubair Alexander and I met a bunch of new people

  • Great News about the TechNet Event in Boston November 13, 2008

The attendees of this event are in for a real treat! Blain Barton will be joining us. Blain is the East Coast Community Champ. Blain is coming up from Florida to join us. He is well aware of the very active technology community we have in the North East and he is coming to meet and greet our local MVP's and User Group Leaders. Blain is really looking forward to meeting all the MVP's and User Group leaders (including board members) so he can get an understanding of what is going on in the community

  • 10 Days into my blogging extravaganza...

On July 21st, I challenged myself to make a blog post at least once a day for the next 365 days. Here I am a week and a half later and I am happy to report that I have made good on the promise so far. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit so I have 11 days left to make it stick. I think I will make it. I will likely post more often then once a day once I really get into the swing of things though. I would ideally like to post 2-4 posts a day but I am taking it slow. I have a tendency to be a

  • Launch Time....

Yeah, yeah, yeah..... Chris Henley beat me out by presenting in Los Angeles last week, but nothing is like New York (btw...that is me sinking the putt if you click the previous link). I am sitting in the green room at the Sheraton Towers on 7th Ave, just blocks from Times Square. I am still on Hawaii time and feeling the time difference. But there is an exhilarating buzz throughout the place that is surprisingly invigorating. I hope the energy carries me through the day. I wish everyone could attend

  • What do you want in a Webcast?

For that matter.....Do you even like Microsoft Webcasts? My team is on a conference call right now and we are discussing webcast attendance and how to get more people to attend. All of us are raising some interesting questions but we are on the inside and may not have an appropriate perspective. I want to know what you think about our webcasts and what you want from them. More Demos? Less Demos? Different topics? How deep should we go? Are they discoverable? Are they too long or too short? Guest

  • Windows, Office and Exchange Connections in Vegas...

Have you heard of Windows Connections ? or Office Connections ? Or SharePoint Connections ? What about Exchange Connections ? The "Connections" events are a semi-annual event hosted by Penton Media, a division of Windows IT Pro magazine/ community. It is an event for IT Pros and Developers, much in the same fashion as TechEd: - Microsoft & HP keynote (Steve Guggenheimer, Steve Riley , Scott Guthrie , Mark Minasi , etc.) - 400+ breakout sessions, including Microsoft Day (hear it directly from

  • Technet resources....

Based on the email I receive, I sometimes wonder if people know about all of the excellent Technet offerings we have. I took some time today to link out to some cool Technet properties. Some you will know very well. Others might be new to you. Check them out! Technet Webcasts -- Many of you watch the webcasts I deliver and I truly appreciate your attendance and feedback. Did you know that we archive all of our webcasts for on-demand viewing? In most cases you can even download a WMV file and watch

  • Finding the webcasts you want....

For the longest time I have heard this question.... "I heard Harold Wong was doing a series of webcasts and I really like the others by him I have seen. How kind I find other webcasts he is delivering?" (Substitute your favorite Technet Presenter if you like) Well now you can! Check out the new Technet Webcasts site that allows you to sort by presenter, date, or title. This works for upcoming as well as on-demand webcasts. Version 2 is already in the works so if you have any suggestions, feel free
