The penultimate (scheduled) transistion meeting was held this morning across the hallway from my former office, so I of course needed to drive to that one. The good news is that it was finally nice enough to take the top down on my drive back to Main Campus. At least I got some fresh air, even though I wasn't self-propelled today. That makes the current tally: Walked: 1 Drove: 6 Tomorrow looks promising.. stay tuned! -wp

Woot! No transition meetings and no off-site appointments that couldn't be handled via conference call. If you've been following this thread since its inception, your patience is hereby rewarded. Yep, I walked to work today! Thirty minutes door-to-door inbound; twenty-eight minutes door-to-door outbound (there are several options available for shaving some of this time; those will be explored in coming days). So, the fans of self-propulsion are finally off the schneid! Walked: 1 Drove: 5 More tomorrow!

  • Happy Birthday, Mom

Today would've been my mom's 79th birthday. I can't call her today. I wish I could. If you can, please, even though tomorrow is Father's Day, call your mother too. -wp

Today, I finished up my office move. Thank goodness the laptop is still working, because my desktop boxes have no connectivity. Other than that minor glitch, the move went swimmingly. I needed to bring in some of my office items that I didn't want to leave with the movers (framed wallhangings, a guitar), and I also had transition meetings with my former team in their offices this afternoon, so no walking today. Walked: 0 Drove: 2 More tomorrow.. -wp

  • New Job, New (non-technical) Blog Feature

Frequent readers of this blog will note that today is my first day at my new job in the SQL Server Center of Excellence. I've been camped out in my new office with a cell phone and my balky laptop (which, so far today, has behaved). My office phone arrived while I was at a staff meeting after lunch; my desktop machines and the rest of my goodies arrive tomorrow. I mentioned over the weekend the hullabaloo surrounding Robert Scoble 's departure. It seems to me that one of the lasting lessons of Robert's
