Monitoring Windows Vista with System Center Essentials 2007

Published 22 May 07 04:21 PM

Monitoring Windows Vista in Essentials 2007 is made easy by using the Windows Vista Monitoring Management Pack which released earlier this month.

It's available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a2d42208-d4fd-46a6-9e8d-0ff7694b5634&DisplayLang=en

Before importing this MP you'll need to delete the "Windows Client Vista Operating Systems Essentials" management pack in the Essentials 2007 console Administration space.  Otherwise, you'll receive the error message below:

Once you have deleted this MP you'll need to import the Microsoft.Windows.Client.Vista.mp file that is placed in %ProgramFiles%\System Center Operations Manger 2007 Management Packs\Microsoft Windows Vista Client Management Pack by the Microsoft Windows Vista Client Management Pack System Center Operations Manager 2007.msi installation package.

Please be sure to read the MPGuide that comes with the management pack to understand how its monitors Vista.
