Both AdAware and Spybot can be installed from Safe Mode Cmd Only, and both can be used from a CDR-booted maintenance OS, without having to be "installed" first. Spybot 1.4 has native support for scanning relative to an inactive registry, and the author provides a plugin for Bart PE too.

MSAS, on the other hand, needs MSI to install, and thus can only be installed when the whole of (infected) Windows is running - making it considerably less useful as a first-contact intervention scanner.

Commercial malware ("spyware") is becoming increasingly aggressive; running in Safe Mode, knocking down or crashing clean-up tools, etc. Having an intervention scanner that can't even install in Safe Mode is "amateur hour" - is there any awareness of this issue, or plans to address this later in the beta?

re: AntiSpyware (beta) Build 613 Released Today

Very nice blog!

re: AntiSpyware (beta) Build 613 Released Today

I need a good antivirus to protect my computer.

Good site

Hello!
