How to sort a list of names into alphabetical order

You might be surprised just how easy it is to sort lists of text into alphabetical order simply using Microsoft Office's Excel as you can see from the screenshot below - the sort function works just as happily with text as numerals:

You don't even have to go to the Data tab on the ribbon or use that dialogue box. Excel 2007 has a Sort & Filter button on the ribbon's Home tab. Just select your column, hit that button, select the direction of the sort and you're done. If you have other columns, it'll ask you if you want to expand the selection so the whole sheet will be sorted by that column.
