Must be a slow news day: reporter writes 100% crap

Imagine my surprise to read that Microsoft is removing NAP from Windows Vista! Does this guy actually get paid money to write this drivel? The particular folks quoted in the article all have their own agendas, of course.

News flash: we aren't dropping NAP. It's in the product now, we're actually running it on part of our own corporate network. And soon you'll get to enjoy the benefits of NAP in your own environments, too.

Don't forget, it'll also be in Windows XP - as a client, just like Vista will be a NAP client.  The NAP server portion, of course, is a component of Codename "Longhorn" Server (is that really what we have to call it?)

I seem to remember there's some collusion with Cisco that may cause the NAP client to work with other NAP-alike servers.  I'm looking forward to playing with this.

Yeah, Microsoft NAP and Cisco NAP are being engineered to interoperate. More details on the NAP landing page.

I loved your post, ever though about doing a tech report for Steven Colbert's show? Glad to hear that NAP is still around and that all your programmers didnt waste all that time.

I was reading an interesting white paper today about how Cisco's NAC will integrate with the functionality of MSFT's NAP.

One of the really useful features is the way that you can deploy this in stages, and also how NAP/NAC can provide assertion of client health (Statement of Health) and the facility to update clients to align themselves with corp policy via a quarantined network.
