I've been trying to find out more info on EMC Smarts and how Microsoft are planning to use the licensed technology in Operations Manager 2007 R2 for quite some time. Apparently Microsoft use EMC SMARTS in house for their network monitoring?

From what I can tell, the discovery technology from SMARTS will be embedded in the SCOM2007 R2 product and will give network maps etc. But the bits that do the proper fault/problem identification will still need to be purchased from EMC as a plug-in.
