&lt;p&gt;i am wondering if the single 2GB-DDR works fine, as the specs of K48 say that it does support only 2x 1GB..&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You should follow the guidelines of the motherboard mfg. &amp;nbsp;In general I don't think it will make much difference on whether you use 2x1GB or 1x2GB so long as the motherboard supports the configuration.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In my Shuttle K48 I am using a single 2GB module.&lt;/p&gt;
