If that's so, wouldn't it throw those numbers completely off? I'm trying to understand why undocumented patches to IE would not be included in a comparison between 2 browsers regarding security. For eg., if IE has 100 more undocumented patches per 3 months, the argument that IE is patched less (and therefore is less vulnerable) would not hold true.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I briefly looked at the data, for all the vulnerabilities confirmed and fixed (through an official patch rather than some third-party advisories), the average CVSS is 8.69 for IE7, 7.17 for IE6 SP2, whereas Firefox 2 has an average of 6.43&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;maybe CVSS is a more accurate measurement rather than simply categorized vulnerabilities into &amp;quot;high&amp;quot;/&amp;quot;medium&amp;quot;/&amp;quot;low&amp;quot; and count the number&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Moreover, there are 2 vulnerabilities were scored as &amp;quot;10&amp;quot; for IE7, 6 for IE6 SP2, and only 1 for Firefox 2&lt;/p&gt;
