Demystifying System Center - What is System Center?

Microsoft System Center (not Centre as many have pointed out!) like Microsoft Office is a collective grouping for our systems management technologies.

System Center currently includes 4 different products:

New Product Name

Old Product Name

System Center Configuration Manager

Systems Management Server

System Center Operations Manager

Operations Manager

System Center Data Protection Manager

Data Protection Server

System Center Virtual Machine Manager

-

System Center is more than a brand name for these products. The solutions together form four different pieces of an integrated approach to systems management that is already available to customers in the form of Systems Center Essentials. 'Essentials' is designed for organisations with up to 500 clients and 30 servers and takes the most useful features from the above products into a single streamlined solution. This really does provide a glimpse into the future of how powerful and effective a unified approach to systems management can be.

In the future we will be releasing the following products that also fall under the System Center umbrella.

For Advanced Infrastructure partners who are already delivering System Center based solutions I would encourage you to look here for information on the benefits of obtaining the Systems Management Solutions Specialisation.
