We have incorporated a lot of cool features to make your life simpler in this version of Windows. Now let us see if we can get you hooked to these features even before Windows 7 releases.

re: VAN UI (View Available Networks UI) in W7

Looks nice.

Does it have an API? Enumerating Networks, query status and connect/disconnect for example.

For querying status of RAS connection and for connecting/disconnecting RAS connections you can continue to use existing RAS APIs. Let me know if you need additional info on them

For enumerating networks there should be an API but i am not sure. I will check and let you know. Are there any other functionalities you are looking for?

No, thank you. Currently i´m fine with the existing APIs.

It´s too bad that RAS allways introduces new Features for an OS but the according API for that is delivered in the next Version.

The main Problem will be that Real-World Software has to run on older Systems too.

We have an RAS Custom DLL Application that establishes VPN by using MS-VPN Ras API. There are a lot of good features in Vista and i think also in 7, but we can´t target them all as the client has to perform the same on XP, Vista and of course 7 in the future.

What about a new DUN Update (Like KB285189)? Bring all the new Features to XP and Vista.

To enumerate the networks in VAN UI you can use the NLM APIs which are already public. You can find info about them at

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370803(VS.85).aspx

RAS doesnt own these APIs. VAN UI is used for all media types, not only RAS

As of now we dont have any plans to add support for new features on down-level clients/servers
