I am heading over to the Ottawa PC Users group meeting tonight - it’s my first time attending. They have a very long history that spans most of the computer trends since the PC came out. Have a read of their history on their website (http://www.opcug.ca – click on the history link) and enjoy the walk down memory lane.

I have been working in the IT world for just over 14 years now – but my interest in computers goes back to my first system built by my dad for our home – Sinclair ZX-81 (http://www.nvg.ntnu.no/sinclair/computers/zx81/zx81.htm). It was a lovely sleek black “computer in a box” that had a thermal keypad, no external drive and 1 K of ram. We was upgraded to 16 K with the brick plug in on the back and eventually purchased a tape unit for storage (I got tired of inputting my programs whenever I wanted to play a game).

… but I digress.

I am going to see how the OPCUG is making out and participate in the kickoff of their new IT Pro SIG.  Hey - if you are in Ottawa and are not a member, why not stop by tonight?
