Voilà un message que l’on pense ne jamais écrire mais tout a une fin !

Il se trouve qu’après avoir présenté PowerShell depuis 5 ans chez Microsoft et animé ce blog depuis 1 an (et d’autres), je vais quitter Microsoft dans les prochains jours.

Vous ne me retrouverez donc plus sur ce site mais pour ceux qui souhaite ne pas perdre la trace, vous pourrez me retrouver via les multiples réseaux sociaux, notamment les suivants :

Ce n’est donc qu’un au revoir, j’en suis sûr !

Et comme j’aime tout particulièrement les citations, je voudrais finir avec une que j’apprécie, que j’ai utilisée plusieurs fois lors de mes présentations PowerShell et qui s’applique bien à PowerShell :

« J’ai refait tous les calculs, ils confirment l’opinion des spécialistes : mon idée est irréalisable. Il ne me reste plus qu’une seule chose à faire : la réaliser »

By providing a consistent management interface across the various flavors of Windows, we are making our platform that much more attractive to deploy. IT Professionals can now easily manage their Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 machines through PowerShell remoting – that’s a huge win!

Tout d’abord quelques slides d’introduction pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas PowerShell…

Avec son originale explication visuelle du pipeline ! Une bonne idée !

	C’est énorme : 652 cmdlets pour administrer SharePoint 2010 ! Il y a de quoi faire ! Les administrateurs de SharePoint Online ont pu scripter entièrement les process de création de nouveaux sites.
	Pourquoi c’est BEAUCOUP plus efficace que STSADM !
	Exemple sur 5300 sites, on passe de 12+ heures à 30 minutes !!! Temps d’exécution divisé par 24 !!!
	2 types de commandes : locale ou globale
Viennent ensuite les démos dont je n’ai pris que les moments les plus frappant
	Add-PSSnapin
	Notion de SPSitePipeBind : ID unique sur le site
	Récupération des évènements dans le fichiers de log
	Comment traiter le correlation ID qui s’affiche sur un message d’erreur ? En utilisant GET-SPLogEvent :
	Propriétés calculées
	Idem mais dans un out-gridview
	Le filtrage côté serveur, beaucoup plus efficace et rapide donc !
First GET-SPContentDatabase
	Comment rajouter ses propres paramètres à une commande !
	Ensuite démonstration des possibilités de remoting de PS V2 ici Get-Credential

Bref, une super session que j’ai adorée !!! On va vraiment pouvoir s’amuser avec PS et SP 2010 !!!

Une bonne nouvelle côté PoshBoard, une version 2.0 est maintenant disponible !

Modèle unifié pour les cmdlets PowerShell
Nouveaux controles silverlight : Tabs, CoverFlow...
Installation facile : le portail peut être déployé, cloné, mis en application web...
Petit : 1,5 Mo !
SQL optionnel pour la gestion du portail (mais sera utilisé pour la rétention des données à venir)

This is a very good article comparing both Powershell and Python for DBA standard tasks.

The examples taken are :

Nothing earth shattering here, but I hope that you will find them useful. They are

Listing installed hot fixes, i.e. DST patch

Checking free space on drives.

Finding a database across multiple servers

Checking the version of SQL Server installed

PowerShell appears from far as the most concise of both.

Here is the conclusion :

I'm pretty excited about what PowerShell offers. I'm beginning to think it's easier to get things done with it and it looks like you can get more done with fewer lines of code using PowerShell. I found Python a bit easier to read initially but I'm getting used to the PowerShell syntax with the help of Bruce Payette's PowerShell book and several PowerShell blogs and forum posts. Plenty of support has built up around PowerShell that helped me to write this article both from Microsoft and PowerShell users. One thing I won't forget is Gert Drapers saying during his conference presentation that prior to PowerShell he used Perl for his admin scripts. It obvious from Bruce Payette's book that Microsoft did take a significant amount of inspiration from languages like Python and Perl to build PowerShell. No matter which scripting language you choose, I think to be really effective in a large environment you must learn to script. I'm hooked on PowerShell because of what it can do to make my life simpler in our Microsoft environment but also the exposure to .Net and WMI that it provides for a DBA.

Comme cela a été annoncé ici Windows 7 Has Been Released to Manufacturing et là Windows Server 2008 R2 Reaches the RTM Milestone! ,

Windows 7 et Windows Server 2008 R2 sont prêts !

Le build final sera donc le 7600.

Pas encore disponibles en externe Microsoft mais prêts pour les partenaires notamment pour l’incorporer avec leurs propres produits.

Introducing PoshBing – The PowerShell library for Microsoft’s Bing Search Engine

Microsoft released their new search engine called “Bing” at, aptly named, http://www.bing.com.

The Bing API has the concept of “SourceTypes” which are essentially data sources that you can search into. My script library provides access to the Image, InstantAnswer, News, MobileWeb, Phonebook, RelatedSearch, Spell, Web, Translation, and Video SourceTypes with the following functions:

Get-BingImage – Search the Image SourceType for a list of images including properties about the media files.

Get-BingInstantAnswer – Get single, authoritative answers to questions.

Get-BingNews – Provide news specific to a topic, a location, or breaking news.

Get-BingMobileWeb – Returns mobile web results, primarily relevant XHTML or WML pages.

Get-BingPhonebook – Enables you to view details about a business for which you are searching as if they were a phonebook entry.

Get-BingRelatedSearch – View searches that provide information in which you might be interested, based on your current search.

Get-BingSpell – Query alternative spellings for a given word or phrase.

Get-BingWeb – Get pages relevant to the queried terms.
