Just because one of the guys on the team uses an X-Box controller, the sanctity of the sim is forever tarnished.

I like to call these guys the FS "thought police". They're the ones that think their way of using FS is the right way, and any other ways are downright wrong.

I think you guys should bring back the mouse-as-yoke feature. That'd ruffle a few feathers. Heh Heh.

re: Brouhaha

I added my two cents to Mike's blog post in response to Mr. Janda's views of the capabilities of FS X - and now FS 2004 with respect to the X-Box 360 controller. I echo the thoughts above by Jason whole heartily. You get out of the sim what you put into it. If that just so happens to be a different controller versus the other guy's ... so be it. Mike has many times expressed his enjoyment of FS with the controller - it gets the job done for him, and I'm sure many others. That doesn't exactly mean the keyboard suddenly freezes up.

It's a great way to attract those who are used to such a controller, and aren't yet ready to make a leap forward into more complex hardware - plus, those that own an X-Box 360 already have a controller - no extra expense. Once new simmers (or old, as Jason mentions) see the "coolness factor," they'll want to expand upon it - just like I, you, and the next FS die-hard fan did. It's all an evolutionary thing, we (*most*) just got on the bandwagon a very long time ago, when there were no consoles.

Just be thankful that MS FS hasn't gone to console - this, in turn, is more of bringing console people to PC gaming! :-)

Whew...

O

re: Brouhaha

Well I use a logitech rumble pad for flight simulator, have since FS2004 came out...haven't touched a joystick since then. Love the gamepad for flightsimming.

Using the XBox 360 Controller with Flight Sim 2004

I came across the following two posts this morning, http://blogs.technet.com/pixelpoke/archive/2006/01/17/417633.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/tdragger/archive/2006/01/17/513958.aspx The second goes through the steps to get your XBox 360 Controller to work
