Well that is not strictly true and perhaps the version of the framework has confused a few

re: 2.0 + 4 = 3.0??? .NET Framework confusion

I was doing updating today (custom) and noticed that .NET framework is now offered in two versions: 2.0 and 3.0. Version 3.0 states that it is to upgrade v2.0 but does not state that it REPLACES v2.0.

I downloaded .NET Framework 2.0 and installed it, and restarted my computer as instructed. Then I went back to Windows Update, and downloaded and installed v3.0 to do the upgrade, and again restarted my computer.

When I returned to Windows Update, I was advised that three updated files for .NET Framework 2.0 were needed.

Do I really need to update .NET Framework 2.0 now that I have installed v3.0, or are they completly different programs?
