Read some early discussions, presentations during October at Redmond WA-ODF. To go over final released documentation check the Document Interop Initiative site.
Actually, there is a los of work going on around Interoperability at Microsoft.
Have fun!

Today, Microsoft and Sun announced the partnership to distribute the Live Search Bar tool when Installing Java Runtime Engine.
To me this represents two things: a great example of partnership between two "used to be" distanced companies and the access for more Web users to an innovative set of experiences to achieve productive navigation in the web.
Be aware though, this offer is Sun's only U.S. search partner. What this means is that the toolbar will be the only search-related partner offer distributed through the JRE download/installation to users that have set IE as their default browser, US based Users. You can get all details at Microsoft PressPass page
If you want to update RJE and download the toolbar go to: http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=24934
The latest version of the MSN TOOLBAR which redefines the experience on toolbars as well.
A couple of screens while I ran it myself .

Our dinner was over, we had been watching all the news about it, some in Spanish, some others as we switched to English channel news. I had to have a fresh coffee before listening the speech and as I prepared the pot, placed the filter and pour some strong coffee this thought was going in my mind: “It is truly a new beginning, it is truly a change, it is in fact a night we all today watching will never forget and hopefully always appreciate. I set the switch on… so the dipping could start and got back to my seat.
Very inspiring, the honesty and integrity prevails. And I agree, everything has been about the people and who has really won today’s USA presidential elections has been all the people of this country who I respect and admire for how democracy is lived and exercised. I got a refill in my cup to make sure I had enough for listening the whole speech. I could see all inspired faces, full of hope and relief that it was over and that it is the time, it is our time for a new beginning. I am glad is over too.
Off the line of thought of this blog? yes, but I did not want to missed the opportunity of such an event that sets a whole new path for a nation and probably the world. Tomorrow back to normal…

I am fascinated not only for what the next computational model (Windows Azure) represents to all of us but also for how Microsoft keeps the promise on realizing the potential of individuals and organizations alike. From the beginning PDC 2008 has been taken such momentum, day after day, session after session. I tip my hat to the team that has made this possible. We all will have a lot to talk about, test, code, install, deploy, evaluate, learn, participate, digest...really it is an exciting time as we get into the real Software + Services era. Today's keynote at PDC, was dedicated to show really great stuff Microsoft Research is doing, in the areas of sensor technologies, WW Telescope expanded, Touch technologies, health and education, each one of them revealing how software is changing the way science solve problems and will help solve future problems impacting our lives!. Loved Microsoft is already thinking about bringing down walls so that kids ca early learn the fundamentals and experience the fun of software programming/development. BOKU, is the the name of a the programming model been developed for kids, combined with the XBOX platform to deliver that early experience. About 4 years ago, I had suggested this wish of a learning environment using XBOX due to the fact of the massive adoption of video games could provide scenarios for learning, but this is genially done!
My 8 years son will be glad to hear this from me tomorrow as I get back home to Seattle. Lot of fun to come!

Today was the day where “Windows Azure” was announced. I was so excited to be part of that exclusive crowd of knowing first hand. www.azure.com is where you need to go to find out more. I need to do a more complete post about it. For the time being I am so late writing this I rather go to bed and keep it fresh tomorrow.
Try also this cool new live social app already running on Azure! www.bluehoo.com
Below some picture capturing my first days at LA!

It happens from small to big business, family or personal IT labs at home, and of course depending on that size the complexity can go really wild.
I am talking about the spreading of servers, applications, client workstations, mobile machines, routers, devices, printers, and the list can go on at its peak when the manager, the boss or whomever is in charge of questioning: how do we get more efficient with current IT resources before we continue investing? or start a new planning cycle?, or reviewing what is really critical or not in order to optmize what IT has to provide services?. Very familiar, with this day to day chaos right?...there are some good news though that we can use to have a good start on understandingwaht is available waht we have.
You need to check a MAP, not a map in Live Search Maps, but "Microsoft Assesment and Planning Toolkit 3.2". I am sure you won't even finish reading the whole TechNet details about MAP when you will be conviced in how much help this will do to you, your company or your customer when inventory and reporting assets available but not only that, you will also have system based recommendations on how to get your infrastrured optmized. So, no more talk from my side, more time to you to:
Get on eval program and download the toll Microsoft Connect
See how others have used it and benefit from it: Costco Wholesale Corporation, Continental Airlines, Banque de Luxembourg
Give your feedback to the product team MAPSBETA@microsoft.com
Enjoy, I am sure this tool will save you a lot of worries, it might also bring some new ones but you will convert them into opportunities to fix :- )
Cheers!

By the way...I am a PC! :-)
I am reading a wonderful book "Born Digital", which talks about the generation born after the 1980, The digital natives, how the authors call them.
Those who most probably are leaving behind their "Digital Dossier". As a parent, it is helping me be aware of all new and future challenges this and future generations are/will face, asking for a second thought on Identity, Privacy and safety to begin with. At the same time, it makes me realize My "Digital Dossier" is incomplete, good or bad?, maybe. I am not worry. As someone who works for a Software technology company though, it makes me think about not only important role the industry have in building all this digital lifestyle, but also even appreciating the good things towards building more secure, private and controlable software for these next generations.
Give it a try, I think you will like it and understan more the The digital natives
Saludos!
I have just installed it...to be Beta 1, not bad, smother experience. Very visible the "7" Emulate IE7 button, more graphical on the Tools and Page menus, can go directly to you Live space from there. I also like the Quick tab button on the left top corner, easy way to thumbnail all you open tabs. I think you should try it yourself and see the evolution from Beta 1 until the its realease. This version thought is aimed for developers, is providing a more expandable and activity/services oriented web client. The activity providers, you need to check...But do it, here is the link you can download it:

I will get more details later..
Best!
You have to see this video on how you can expand Terminal Services on Windows Server 2008 (besides saving lots of money and enabling users to access required centralized apps in your company) shared by Narenda Wicaksono, IT Pro Evangelist from Indonesia in TechNet Edge. Cool, awsome and fun!
Really showing how IT Pros can also provide new experiences to users.

I just went around looking for some news, and I found this "Magnifica" idea started and moved forward by Eileen Brown in UK. About connecting Women in Technology. I feel so good for her at the same time, becuase I know her and know the passion she has at driving this fantastic idea. It incredibly is about tearing down walls, making women again :-) showing us how to transcend beyond our paradigms in this such exciting industry we live and breathe in :-)
I a rather you catch these happenings at her diary...
Best!
I have always been one of those guys that when new technologies are coming, I want to know more about and digging waht is cool about it, how can I use it to really make a change in the way my servers, my desktops, my network, my IT Infrastructure can be move forward and stay reliable and perfoming at the expected levels. Many times of course I have dare to said said: " This is the next big thing for us", many have believed, many have not. Most of the times I have been glad that time proves me right. As when I started evangelizing on Windows NT and nobody wanted to accept it. I was not a MS employee though but I was sure the MS platform had a promise we all were about to ride!. Now it happens I am enjoying been part of the more vocal, creative and excited community of IT Pro Evangelists at Microsoft. So I want you to know all my peers at Microsoft IT Pro Evangelists around the world, doing amazing things for you to make our technologies a real touch on the technical aspects that really matter at the end: to make our IT job easier and more enjoyable.
Hope you can read all including the ones in other languages than English, that is the best part ! :-) ...if you need help in Spanish I of course can help you!
Best!
Estimados,
