Connecting your Mac to Microsoft Online Services International Release

For our international release, please use the following Exchange server addresses depending on where you bought Microsoft Online Services.

North America - https://red001.mail.microsoftonline.com

Europe - https://red002.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com

Asia - https://red003.mail.apac.microsoftonline.com

What you'll need:
Mac OS X 10.5
Entourage 2008 12.1.2
Safari 3.1.2

The user need to change their password in the company portal page before attempting to set up Entourage.

File->New->Account.  Make sure you have already changed your given password using the Sign In application on a PC or the web portal first if this is a brand new account.

In the pop up box, hit the button in the lower left hand corner that says “Configure Account Manually”.

Email address is the email address you use to sign in with the Sign In application.

Account ID is the name that you get when you use the Sign In application. This should be the same as your EMail address.

Exchange server is the OWA address + “/exchange/” + user email address.  For bob@contoso.com, in the US datacenter, it would be red001.mail.microsoftonline.com/exchange/bob@contoso.com.

You can find out which datacenter you're in by going to your OWA.

Make sure you check the box right below it "This DAV service requires a secvure connection".

NOTES:

There is no Free Busy information because we don't deploy public folders, and no GAL lookups since we don’t expose our LDAP servers publicly.  We are working on these issues, but we do not have a time frame as of now.

We have gotten a few questions about getting some sort of work around for GAL lookups using Entourage with Microsoft Online Services.  While a couple of Mac users within our team have written a GAL lookup add on for Entourage, we cannot officially release it as a Microsoft product due to various reasons.

However, there are a couple of Apple Scripts on the internet similar to our internal solution that will enable GAL lookups for Entourage connected to Microsoft Online Services

Hello,

Is there a way to set Apple's Mail to work with MS Online? I added the correct server and the OWA URL but it still won't sync...

Thanks!

Has their been any updates to using MS Online with Apple Mail?  I know that Snow Leopard has full exchange support (which I'm using right now - developer version) but I can't seem to get it to work with Apple Mail.  Any ideas...

Is the new Entourage for Web Services update compatible (or maybe even recommended) for Microsoft Online Services?

Yes you can use Mail, Address Book and Calender with MS Exchange Onine. I use it and it works well.

I have installed Snow Leopard that is compatible with exchange 2007.

You just create a account using the following settings :

Internal Server : use your own ip address

External Server : red001.mail.microsoftonline.com

User name : the email address for the account

Enter the password

For de SMTP use the user email address

Thanks Robert,

I have some new information to add. We're working on a Mac sign-in application, that will provide single sign-on functionality to Mac users, just like PC users have.

If you'd like to help us test the Mac sign-in application, you can register at http://connect.microsoft.com using this Invitation ID: MAC-Y689-6QBR, download the client and start using it.

Watch this blog for an official announcement.

There's a character missing on the invitation ID

Luis,

I just double-checked and verified that the invitation ID is MAC-Y689-6QBR. What makes you think there's a character missing?

It's works now:) Yesterday the Ok/go buton was disabled with number of characters and only when adding an extra char would be available

Everything's ok now. Downloading :)

Great! I'm glad it's working for you. That UI can be a little quirky. I think a Tab key might have also enabled that button.

Thanks for giving the Mac Sign-In application a try. Let us know what you think.

Thanks again,

Single sign-on looks good so far for me!

Any news on the final piece of the jigsaw: getting Mac Messenger to connect up to BPOS? Does that require code change or am I just missing some magical setting?

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark. I'm glad it's working well for you.

The Mac Sign-In application doesn't support Mac Messenger yet. We're working on it and you can bet we'll announce it when it's ready. I'm amazed at the number of requests we've had!

I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and now the Mac Sign-In beta app doesn't work. Any ideas? (Seems strange since Snow Leopard was built with out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.)
