Meeting with Jim Gray Microsoft Research
Thought I should catch up with my posts again so here goes. Thursday I was in London at the Microsoft offices for a meeting with Jim Gray this was prior to the upgrade day at Cavendish where Jim was presenting the keynote speech. Keith Burns and I were to follow him with a whole day of sessions on Upgrading to SQL 2005. We had the chance to put forward some questions which is an opportunity not to be missed. I had read a paper where he forecast the computer technology required for virtual observatories in 2000, and I wondered if technology had matched his expectations. If you have a look at the paper and make your own mind up.
