I am not nuts, I am just Goofy

GoofyMedals So it begins….  This week marks the beginning of training for my next big adventure:

The Goofy Challenge!

Now you may be wondering what the Goofy challenge is?  It is part of the Disney marathon weekend, and the Goofy Challenge involves running a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday and a full marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday.  Yes you read that right, and if you have met me you are thinking Matt has lost it.  Well I have not totally lost it, just partially.  For me this is the next part of me getting into better overall health and shape.  A little over a year ago I was the heaviest I had ever been around 295, and I was not happy.  Then I had Mr. Get on the Bike, Brian LaMee, send me one email that changed my thinking and got me off my lazy behind.

What is cool I have lost ~40lbs and I have been able to keep it off for a year, but I have hit a plateau, I have been stuck on or around 255 for a year and now it is time to take off the next 20-30lbs.  So I needed a little motivation, aside from the tremendous support I have from my family, it is always good to have that carrot in front of you, and the goofy challenge provides that for me.  I really think it is the word challenge that got my heart a pumping, but most likely it is the shiny goofy medal.

My goal when I run the goofy challenge is to weigh 235lbs or less.

So every week, I will post my training schedule (and how the previous week went) and my weight, I do this for accountability for myself but also to let any one who needs to hear it: you can change, it just takes time.   I will share my learning's, the science and people that have motivated me  to lead a healthier life.  With that said here we go:

Current Weight: 256.5

    Monday Cross Train: Lifting
    Tuesday 3 mile run
    Wednesday 5 mile run
    Thursday 3 mile run
    Friday TGIF, REST REST
    Saturday 5 mile run
    Sunday 10 mile run
