The Ox, the jam jar and the architect REVISITED!

Something has been gnawing away at the back of my mind since the recent "Software + Service" Architect Forum with the Jam jar experiment in particular.

When I got to the venue I still need to get more pennies to fill the jam jar! I went to the coffee bar and the kind but perhaps confused lady agreed to hand over here pennies (20p). I added these, plus some from a co-presenter, but the jar still rattled suggesting more could be added. However, that was not the real worry. The real worry was that I was now unsure of whether the total of 421 was actually correct!

As you'll have seen in the previous post, 2 guys guessed 421 and the average (of collective wisdom of architects) came out at 419. Not bad and worthy of a round of applause!

However, the nagging doubt was still there, so today I decided to do a recount ....

So what do you reckon was the new total?

421 perhaps?

Nah .... that'd be far too easy!

The actual number in the jar was ....

!!!!!! 419 !!!!!

THE AVERAGE OF THE CROWD (THEIR COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE) WAS BANG ON!!!

I’m going to have to go and lie down!

You might want to check Darren Browns show in Channel 4 in the UK, you can get the on demand version online.

He did a very similar on with accounts in new york.
