Architectural ruminations

Microsoft Connected Systems Forum

Unfortunately I didn't get to talk about the connected systems forum earlier, but I think it was the best we've done yet. The speakers and topics covered were of a truly excellent quality!

Both Mehran Nikoo and Dave Oliver give good overviews of the talk by Anthony Saxby on capability modelling and identity management - a tall order to cover in just under an hour! In both accounts, they mention valid feedback from the audience and Dave in particular suggests that there was more than enough content to maybe cover two days or more.

I agree; the forum at best can only really provide a taster or introduction to these sorts of subjects and it is a shame that where individuals contribute we don't have the opportunity to dig that bit deeper and so provide feedback that can assist Microsoft to develop better solutions.

As Dave rightly points out this was our first opportunity to introduce 'Motion', which is not in fact a product but a methodology based on the concepts of capability modelling; the questions raised would be useful if fed back to the group responsible and in this instance I will do just that.

However, the question still remains; how do you cover a range of topics at sufficient detail, in such a short time? Not easy, but we're working on it! I suggest you watch this space; we are working on developing the next season of architectural forums now and no stone is being left unturned I assure you.
