Architectural ruminations

Software Practice Advancement (SPA) Conference 2005

I've been at SPA for the past few days and had planned to blog a bit while here but really there's been really little time to do so! I really had no idea what to expect when I got here, but finally, got my eureka experience of what SPA actually means midway through day 2 when I realised that the session I was in was actually contributing to the development and understanding of a particular subject. Quite motivating, this place is obvioulsy about learning, but more about interaction and reconfirming our drive for improving the software development process. It's like therapy and I recommend it!

As it happens, Microsoft only got knocked 4 times as far as I heard, twice by Oracle (wierd that) and a couple of times when discussing 'competitive teams'. Ok, so Oracle knocking Ms is nothing unexpected, and in truth a reflection of their own immaturity, but the other view I think is very 'old world' which I guess is an image that is hard to shrug off!

Anyway, whenever I talked to anyone all I got was interest, respect and an honest desire to engage and have some form of dialog - good for the future of us all I feel!
