I just read a thoroughly fascinating article about the future of advertising.  Apparently it is now possible to embed small cameras into advertisements in shopping centers, airports etc., to determine key characteristics about the person watching the advert.  The cameras and associated software can determine rough age, height, and even ethnicity, and then display the most appropriate ad.  So a middle-aged man watching the screen may get an ad on razor blades, whilst a teenager may be displayed an Xbox ad.  You can read more at MSNBC.com
