Mirroring is/was part of Standard Ed.

Standard edition will have this as well?

I trust you're well :-)

Firstly, congrats on the new job, and please do try and carry on the blogging.

Secondly, I couldn't notice that on www.microsoft.com/sql, one of their main features is on High Availability (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/2005/productinfo/demos/SQL_2005_Availability.swf)

One of the main thrusts of this overview is database mirroring. So why release marketing on features that have been pulled by default? Does this represent a turnaround from the product group, or are the marketing guys just a little diconnected? (I suspect I know the answer to this :-)

Database mirroring hasn't been 'pulled' exactly - the official line is that it is delayed. We do expect to see mirroring arrive in what will probably be the first service pack, hopefully sometime in the first half of next year.
