System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1

Service Pack 1 for Configuration Manager 2007 was released a few days ago.

You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5AAE62E8-4B7F-4AF7-BE01-AEFAA4BF059A&displaylang=en

It’s a 1GB download – so be aware of that.

New features and enhancements are detailed in the overview; the highlights are:

  • Support for Windows Server 2008
  • Support for Windows Vista SP1
  • Asset Intelligence - Enhanced inventory and asset management capabilities
    • accurately identify software assets from Microsoft and other vendors
    • customise your local Asset Intelligence catalog with your own in-house applications
    • identify and report on hardware changes
    • software license management
    • reporting on CAL and KMS usage in Microsoft License Statement format

I’ve heard a few reports that the pre-requisites for installation mean you have to jump through some hoops; in a later post I’ll give a detailed list of what is needed to install a fresh SCCM server onto Windows Server 2008.

Can anyone advise if Microsoft release a "word" format of "Configuration Manager Documentation Library"?
