Road sweeper

Take a look here for a great example of how our Windows Mobile devices are not only good for making phone called but are even better to use as a platform for other applications.

The article above talks about how Rushcliffe council have armed their road sweepers with Windows Mobile devices so that they can send their people to trouble areas as soon as a member of the public phones in.  Previously,  each road sweeper was given a predefined route to take ... this that the same streets would get cleaned first and the others problem areas would have to wait until later.  Now that their staff are armed with Windows Mobile devices,  the council can send 'jobs' to their operatives and get them to clean the problem areas as a priority.

It’s only a small step then to integrate this into a GPS system and have the roads weeper a) report its current location and b) take the most efficient route to its next job.

Thanks ... it took me a while to think up a cheesy enough title to grab peoples attention :-)
