Don't wait for Office "12" -- deploy SharePoint now!
I had another EBC session today during which I presented and discussed the investment areas in the Office “12” versions of SharePoint products and technologies. The customer was extremely excited about the new features and improvements but was disappointed in having to wait about a year for the new versions to be released. My response: Don’t wait! Take advantage of SharePoint today by deploying the recently released Applications for Windows SharePoint Services. As more WSS sites get implemented, use SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to aggregate, manage, and index/search the disparate sites. And don’t forget to apply Service Pack 2 of Windows SharePoint Services (released Sep. 27) and SharePoint Portal Server (released Oct. 18) to your existing installations!
