Lawrence Liu's Report from the Inside

Enabling a New World of Work with Microsoft Office system

News

Best. MIIS Demo. Ever.

Identity management (IdM) is a very hot issue right now. All of my customers are asking me about it with questions like "How can I consolidate my numerous directories? How can I synchronize between all of my directories? How can I leverage Active Directory even more as my primary directory for user authentication? How can I achieve enterprise single sign-on (ESSO)? How can I get rid of my expensive Sun LDAP servers? How can I replace my stalled/unreliable/unscalable implementation of Tivoli Identity Manager (TIM)?" After the typical exploratory first meeting that I have with my customers about IdM, most of them are surprised by how comprehensive and capable Microsoft's solution is.

For now, I'd like to focus on our solution's integration, provisioning, and password management components, which are provided by Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003. But instead of making you read even more about MIIS, I strongly recommend that you simply watch what I consider to be the best MIIS demo ever - no marketing fluff, no slideware, just the app and how it works in a short 2-part walkthrough. Enjoy!

Oh, in case my manager is wondering why he needs me anymore when there are so many excellent online demos available for Microsoft products and technologies, I need to set the record straight that I still do the Best. In-Person Demos. Ever. :-) And the benefit of having a customer see an online demo prior to meeting with me in person is that we won't need to spend much time going over the basics; rather, we'll be able to focus our discussion on how the technology can address specific use cases and business scenarios.
