Photosynth

Amazing, what you can do with simple 2D photographs and a piece of software.

Check out http://labs.live.com/photosynth/ and get an idea of what I'm talking about.

The potential for this concept is huge!

We all know the virtual worlds and maps on the Internet (e.g. Virtual Earth).  The problem with these things are that they depend mainly on maps and photos taken by 3th parties (satellite and high altitude planes).  Furthermore, it's not easy to add your own content.  And what do you do when you want to experience low altitude (human eye altitude) or want see the inside of a building?  No planes flying here, as far as I know.

Photosynth can be the solution for both problems: it's easy for anyone to use, without too much software of CPU power necessary, and it's applicable anywhere, even inside a building!

Check it out, watch the movies (see what NASA does with it), install the preview, and enjoy!
