SUSE Linux 11 – Live Migration…

I got to messing around in the home lab and thought, hmmm…wonder how a Linux VM does with live migration?  Well folks, here it is.  A single ping of ‘down time’ with SUSE 11.  It’s pretty self-explanatory so no audio…just a persistent to ping the SUSE VM and then I use SCVMM R2 to start the live migration.  BTW, I’m using a Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows Server 2008 and the free version of Starwind’s iSCSI target as my backend here.  The SUSE VM has 1.5GB of RAM and it takes about 18 seconds to move it over.   Nice work Guys!!!

BTW, you can grab the Linux Integration Components for Hyper-V HERE…there’s a PDF that details how to install them…pretty easy…mount the ISO, copy the files to the local disk and edit a few text files.  Done.
