Balloning is relatively safe. I mean your parachute is open before you leave the ground. It's not like jumping out of a plane with a satchel on your back and ... wondering.... Also, the Pilot is trained to FAA standards, so knows the regluations and how to fly the thing.
Also, the general rule for working out where you want the balloon to go, the rule is "Right with height" so if you want to move a little bit to the left to aim for a particular field, you just descend a little. It's due to the coriolis effect.
It's a great sport - unless you get tempted to jump out of the basket, like you're drawn to waster flowing undrneath bridges. I've been involved with hot air ballooning for the last 20 years with my family, and the worst injuries I've ever sustained are singed eyebrows due to standing a little too close to the heat when the balloon envelope is on the ground ready to have some heat in it, and stand upright.
Go on... have another go... mornings are the best time to fly by the way...

Thanks for the encouragement. My wife wants to go up again. I'll suggest a morning ride next time.
