Applications I'm running on Windows Vista x64

About a  month ago I received my Lenovo ThinkPad T61p and installed Windows Vista Ultimate x64 as the operating system.  Like many of you, I was a little worried I'd run into a road block with an application I need.  So far, that hasn't been the case.

Here's a list of the applications that are installed on my domain joined production laptop image.

I'll add and update the list as needed.  In fact, I have two or three more apps to install today.  Thank god for 200GB laptop hard drives.

[UPDATED on 10/15]  Updated application list.  Also note that IE7 x86 must be used with Flash 9.

Keith, I also have quite a few T61s and X61s here.  Would you be willing to check if something is the same for you?  In Presentation Director (Fn + F7 > Manage Schemes), is the option for "When Notebook is docked" grayed-out?  For the life of me, I cannot get this option to work, docked or not, on either model.  

Lenovo's tech support more or less blew me off, saying that they will escalate the call, but that the ticket will be closed, so I won't be able to track the issue.  The rep said I'll just have to wait until the next release of Presentation Director, but there is no estimate for a release date (not even a timeframe), nor is there any guarantee that this will be fixed--no one else has reported it as an issue.  The impression I got from the rep was that since it hadn't been reported by others, it wasn't an issue, so it felt like nothing else would be done about it... I kind of laughed (more out of frustration) and said, "Ok... well, let me be the first to report it. ;)"  The support rep made some comments about it being Vista, and that got me even more frustrated... are they supporting the system, or not?  The rep also said that my sales rep may be able to help the process move faster, which I found astonishing... the sales channel is the proper source for issue resolution?

Sorry to vent there a bit, but I'm less than pleased with how this is going, and want to make sure I'm not crazy... I've tested this on several machines out-of-the-box or clean installs, updated from System Update or not, and even different models, all with the same result.  It's not the end of the world if it doesn't work, but it seems very strange that the option is there, yet cannot be used.

Otherwise, I really love these laptops. :)

Sorry, I did not install Presentation Director. In fact, I only installed the Power Management, System Update and Fingerprint software tools.

System update is set to not update automatically.  I will only use it infrequently to see what's new.  I haven't used the fingerprint software, and probably won't.

In my case, I just installed drivers and the three software components I listed above.  I don't use a docking station.  I use KVM's instead.

We need you to get some graphically intensive games running on that thing, Keith. How about we load up Half-Life 2, BioShock, or World of Warcraft? I know someone who can get you a free trial. :)

Doom 3 is an industry standard video benchmark. :)

Seriously though, I don't buy many games for the PC now.  I spend gaming dollars on the Xbox360 platform.  Halo 2 for Windows Vista is the last game I've purchased.

Bioshock looks great.  Half Life Orange Box looks like a good deal, too.

I see you are running Sony's Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition on Vistas. I have the Vistas Home Edition that my computer came with and I can't seem to get it to install. It keeps saying I need to upgrade to Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or higher.  Any hints on how to get this program up and running? Do I need to upgrade my edition of Vistas?

Erin, What version of Vegas are you trying to install?  Mine is Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Version 8.0b (Build 122).  This is installed on top of Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

I doubt Vegas cares about the difference between Home and Ultimate.

Keith,

I've tried running Vegas Movie Stuio 8.0c Platinum.  Seems to run fine in editing mode, but when I try to render, it screams for 30 frames, then sits idle for several seconds, then repeats.....  Very slow.

How are you getting your system to render?  I notice it says I have 256MB of RAM available for rendering, but I have 4GB on the MoBo.
